Hitting the road again

Happy to say I’ll be heading off on another tour this October. This one is scaled back from last year’s National Tour by focussing more on my local region.

If you’re seeing a pattern emerging with the artwork you’re spot on, and I thought I might explain it a bit more in-depth. This tour will finish off the Placid In The Rough series of projects (album, National Tour, and Regional Tour). Back in 2020 I released my debut single ‘Making Lemonade’. This was the beginning of a 10-year plan consisting of 4 albums, 4 national tours, and 4 regional tours. A new album every 2 years, and an alternating national/regional tour every October until 2029. Think of it as a 4 album anthology that are all linked. How are they linked?

Each album consists of 8 tracks, represented on the album cover by 8 Australian native flora species. Each national tour poster features these 8 species (one for each state and territory on the tour) plus 2 more to represent the Wagga Wagga and Albury hometown shows. Each regional tour has a different venue theme (the first being wineries) and the posters continue this flora theme too. And yes, that does mean there is a new album coming next year!

I hope this gives a little insight into the overall plan and hope to see you at a winery show. Thanks so much for your support.

PS, if you’re like me and love a completed collection, you can grab a CD, vinyl, or badge set from my Bandcamp page so that once this anthology is completed you can say you have the complete set.

Vinyl Album Now Available!

They’ve arrived!

I’m very pleased to say my vinyl albums have now arrived, albeit very late. They’re a special white splatter on black with a limited run of 100 copies pressed. There’s two ways to get a copy:

Local Albury-Wodonga pickup:
In store from the newly opened Selfmade Marketplace, Lavington Square Shopping Centre (opposite the food court). Bec (pictured below) and Sean are fantastic supporters of all things locally made. You may know them as the folks who run the regular Selfmade Market which bring an array of store-holders selling all things locally made (including live music) to the wider region. The markets have been such a success they’ve just opened up a dedicated shop. Check their page for opening hours.

Online:
From Bandcamp. I was really hoping they’d be ready in time for the national tour to avoid you having to pay any postage costs, but alas. Thankyou so much to anyone willing to pay a bit more to get a copy.

The first 10 in-store and 10 online copies sold also contain a National Tour 2022 poster plus Making Lemonade poster by SSR Art. All copies include a digital download card.

I'm going on tour!

I’ll be showcasing stripped back versions of my recent debut album ‘Placid In The Rough’ on my first national tour. I’ll be starting in my hometown of Wagga Wagga, playing every capital city, before a final show in my current home of Albury-Wodonga. Supporting me by an array of local support acts, many of which feature on the album.

'Placid In The Rough' Available Now

Toby Mobbs’ debut album ‘Placid In The Rough’ brings together 8 tracks released individually over the span of two years. PITR follows the easing of the worldwide pandemic through the slow transition from home recording to studio with an increasingly growing group of collaborators as physical distancing restrictions began to ease. PITR brings together a multitude of Mobbs’ musical inspirations from hard rock, to folk, to pop, to orchestral. From this has emerged one of the most diverse collections of genres released by an independent artist, tied together by introspective lyrics and melody at its heart.

'Will I Be Somebody Else?' Available Now

At what point can we look back at our former self and say we are no longer that person? Daily we are physically changing as our cells regenerate ‘til almost anew. Mentally we absorb, interpret, and respond, building upon who we are. If we are the ship Theseus, are we bound to our foundation, or defined by our ability for change?

'Just One Thing (feat. Asha Bright)' Available Now

Building upon the saying ‘like two ships in the night’, this track was written after reflecting on times in our life where we have ‘missed the boat’ to seemingly important events, experiences, or relationships. Sometimes the catalyst for these missed chances or opportunities can come from Just One Thing not lining up as we would have hoped. Even when everything else surrounding it may have appeared perfect, this one thing can cause everything else to pass us by and drift apart like those two ships.

'Moments' Now Available on Atomic Music

The follow-up to Toby Mobbs' debut single. 'Moments' speaks how our future memories are created from our present lived experience. We look back on the past and reflect on our unique defining moments; our memories transport us back in time to a place we cannot alter. The value of these moments may not have been realised at the time but it is our present that is the vehicle for altering our future. Recognise these moments as they happen, hold onto them tight, and look back on them with fervour.

New Website!

Hey! So I’ve spent the last couple days putting on big boy pants and sorting out a website for myself. Bit of a learning process and still ironing out some things but for the most part it’s running well. There’s a bit of old content on here that are placeholders for now but will be updated. If I’ve set it up correctly this should also automatically post to my Facebook page. If you’re keen on being kept up to date with future travels and stories you’re welcome to subscribe to the mailing list (figured all that out today). If you spot anything that isn’t quite working send me off an email at the bottom of the site (got that working today too!). Cheers. TM
